Interested to know more about my first week doing RCMC Medical Center Sermorelin Protocol? Let's dive into it!

So first tell me, what is Sermorelin? I am a semi-natural mom who used essential oils and OTC medications as needed, which isn't often for my family. So for me, Sermorelin was a new medication I was skeptical about using. Trust me when I say I did a lot of research about it before starting the program. I encourage you to do your own research and see all the amazing benefits, on top of the weight loss, it offers. It's pretty amazing! Here's how RCMC explains the Seremorlin Protocol:

Sermorelin is a drug that first appeared in the 1970s, and has become the more natural solution to managing a human growth hormone (HGH) deficiency.

Instead of replacing the HGH in the event of a problematic deficiency, the remarkable medication encourages the pituitary gland to begin producing more of its own growth hormone. As you start to look into this incredibly effective treatment program, you will find that the benefits of Sermorlin HGH injections are numerous. As a sermorelin works with your body and begins to assist it in increasing the amount of HGH reduced, you will start to notice your health improving in many various ways. Once sluggish metabolism begins to increase, and more energy and stamina is the welcomed result.

When RCMC patients begin to experience the joy of waking up in the morning and exuberance for moving around, they find one of the most highly anticipated benefits including excess weight loss. The simple answer to the question... is Sermorelin good for weight loss... Is simply yes. Sermorelin is not prescribed specifically for weight loss. It is prescribed only for those who have been found deficient in growth hormone production. However, reversing this downward spiral can result in a healthier body and more youthful attitude and outlook on life. Metabolism is a natural process that our body has to break down the food we consume into the energy we use every day.

Although metabolism and weight loss don't go hand in hand, they do affect each other greatly. The better your metabolism is working, the better your body can process food and stored fat, and turn it into energy.

Weight loss is all about burning fat. If your HGH levels are low, your body is more inclined to hang on to fat. As we age, we have a higher percentage of body fat compared to lean muscle. That's because our HGH levels decrease after our teams and continue to do so throughout our lifespan. By boosting our HGH levels naturally, we are persuaded our bodies that extra fat storage is unnecessary and that fat should be burned to give us energy.

Are you curious what being on the program is like? Let's walk through my first week...

Every week you will get an in-depth update of my week using my tools which are my food intake, exercising, self-talk, how my family is helping, my results for the week and my faith (which will be a HUGE part of my journey). If you are not a Christian or a believer in God, just skip over this section if it doesn't pertain to you. Why am I adding a faith portion? Because this is the one thing I am doing different this time to help me. Digging into my faith will help me make these changes permanent, be successful, and start feeling better about myself. But again, if faith isn't your thing, you do you.

Friday, July 22nd I walked into RCMC for my first appointment. I met with the owner Sariah who was so supportive and excited for me to see the results of the program. I met with their Nurse Practioner who gave me a mini-physical, drew bloodwork, walked me through the program, medically speaking, and answered all my questions about the medication and supplements I would be taking. I received my packet with all the instructions, food list, and supplements and was walked through everything I needed to do to make the program successful. I left feeling nervous and empowered all at the same time.

Vulnerable moment: I've tried a lot of diets and failed. I've also had a little success and went back to my old ways of eating. I do not want that to happen this time, especially on such a public platform. It's intimidating and a whole lot of scary. But I feel like if one person can relate to me and my story, then sharing this personal testimony will be worth it.

RCMC Counselor: Madeline is my RCMC Coach and she is amazing to work with! She has made it clear that my goals are her goals. She works with me one on one to answer my questions, which I seem to have a lot of and assess my weekly progress. I talked with her on the phone for about an hour about my goals, struggles, and what to expect my first week before I even started their program. She gave me tips and ideas based on her own experience doing the sermorelin protocol. If you've never had a coach, you will love it! It's another accountability partner cheering you on and someone who seems to know exactly what you are feeling!

Medication/Supplements: I am taking nightly injections of Sermorelin in my belly. Nope, it doesn't hurt. It is actually helping me sleep like a baby at night. I take the injections 2 hours after my last meal which is also getting me out of the nighttime snacking habit, Then daily I am taking supplements called Ultra-Lean, Phenix and Theraslim. These supplements have really been amazing at helping me with my sugar and carb cravings, boosting my mood, energy and focus while keeping me feeling full during the day. They are also helping my body boost my metabolism and help burn fat. A week in I have to say, they are doing their job well.

Self-Talk: If my past failures have done anything, it's taught me more about myself and my patterns. I went into this weight loss journey knowing what my struggles were - how I have given in to cravings and failed. So this time I was more open with those around me about what I was doing and what my struggles were going to be. I didn't want my family to have to change their lifestyle just because I decided to change mine, but I did want them to be aware of my triggers and how they could help me. I knew I couldn't do it alone and needed my family on board.

How my family is helping: The first week of protocol, my daughter was at summer camp. She made motivational posters for me to put up each day she was gone to help support me. I can't tell you how much those helped me. My husband put my triggers out of site and helped me grocery shop and food prep for the week. He even decided to eat the same things I ate for meals to make it easier for me - although his portions are bigger. My son is my constant cheerleader who tells me he is so proud of me and celebrates my daily wins I announce to the family so my struggles and achievements to overcome them are known. What can I say, it gives me motivation.

Food Intake: This is where I was nervous going into protocol because on paper the daily food intake doesn't look like much. But after a week in, let me tell you it is enough. So much that I sometimes have a hard time eating all my food. On my first day, I knew my favorite coffee creamer was going to be gone, and made peace with it the day before. I tried making a homemade creamer with almond milk, but I wouldn't be able to use enough of it to make a difference so I went without it and have been loving my alternative homemade iced mocha coffee. WIN! FlavorGod Chocolate Donut Seasoning + Stevia to the rescue!  I'm not much of a breakfast person so I just had my coffee, but I did occasionally have 2 egg whites with my coffee.

For snacks (twice a day between meals), I had a sliced apple with FlavorGod Buttery Cinnamon Roll Seasoning - it's like an apple pie. OR I would choose between having half a grapefruit, an orange or 6oz or strawberries, and blueberries. For the berries, my husband sliced the strawberries and froze them for the perfect snack in the summer - plus I've made strawberry sorbet, a virgin strawberry margarita, and also made chocolate-covered strawberries by sprinkling the FlavorGod Cholocate Donut Seasoning over my strawberries. SO GOOD!

For lunch and dinner, I had 4oz of protein (RCMC lists out for you) and 8oz of veggies. I've made salads, fish, chicken, steak, and non-fat cottage cheese with broccoli and asparagus. Weighing your food is key so you aren't overeating. I have a food scale in the kitchen and measure out everything. To help my busy lifestyle part of food prep is putting everything in bags at the beginning of the week so I can grab and go!

I am in this season of protocol knowing that this is not my forever food. I will eventually be able to eat all the other amazingly healthy foods out there. This part of protocol, in my opinion for me, is separating me from all the foods I have come to know and love. The foods I have created an emotional bond with (if you get me, you know what I'm talking about). It's about learning to pick the good foods and sticking to them - only them! This week has shown me just how much my emotions were dictating my food choices. How I used it to make me feel happy, to cope with a hard day... but not anymore. The cycle stops here!

Exercising: During the first week of protocol I did daily walks with my husband and our dogs. I have a stationary bike so I would ride it 30 minutes in the morning. My coach invited me to use their gym, but I felt I really needed to have a week to get protocol down first before adding workouts in too.

Self-Talk: I tell my husband all the time, " If you could hear the conversations I am having with myself during the day, you'd think I was crazy!" Every day I woke up I had to tell myself "You CAN do this!" and not let doubt in my head at all. Thoughts of cravings or snacks that popped into my head had to be dealt with by saying to myself " NO, you don't need ________ right now." or I would start to pretend I already ate whatever it was and told myself that I didn't need anymore. That helped me get through the first week. Which was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Energy was up, motivation was still high and I was sticking to the protocol without fail!

My Faith: If you are a believer in God/Christian you may have heard of spiritual warfare. If not, it will take more than an article to explain what is actually happening "behind the scenes" in our lives so I highly suggest you read up on the subject.

I knew food was my weakness and I was going to be tested over and over again during my weight loss journey because it has happened every time I've tried before. So what's different this time? I was aware of it and I was using my tools to help me through it. I immediately went to Amazon to help me find devotionals to help me daily. I found a book call The Jesus Diet which has ended up being exactly what I needed. Scripture, testimonies, and a mini-motivational speaker talks to me through this book, and completely understands what I always thought no one else understood. It talks about spiritual warfare and how to fight back against the forces of evil. I am pulling out scripture and have them in the notes section of my phone. I am praying throughout the day. When I have a desire for something I shouldn't eat I am in my head saying, "Not today Satan. Get out of my head!" and my crazy cravings and thoughts stop almost immediately. I am calling on God constantly for help and guidance because I want to be a good steward to the body I was given and I know with Him ALL THINGS are possible - my marriage and life story are a testament to that.
