About This Little Piggy Children's Consignment

Barbara Quilan, owner of This Little Piggy Children's Consignment started her company 10 years ago following the birth of her son Zachary. Here is her story of how it all began:

Our son, Zachary, was born with a heart defect called tetralogy of fallot. Because I was an older mommy, they found his defect halfway through my pregnancy. We were referred to Loma Linda Heart Institute and as you could imagine, spent quite a bit of time out there. Zac had open heart surgery at 4 months old. He is considered repaired, but he will still have a few more valve replacements throughout his life. It was during our time at Loma Linda that we had heard about a consignment sale in Redlands. To help pay some of Zac’s medical bills we decided to try consigning to see what it could do for us.  We actually did well and decided to consign again. After driving over 30 miles to consign a few times, we realized that there wasn’t a consignment event in our local area.  Because consigning had helped us, we felt a sale could definitely benefit our community and took on the task of opening This Little Piggy Consignment.  It’s a labor of love and now that Zac is 9, it’s become a family affair! We want to remain a small intimate sale, for we cherish the relationships that we made with our consignors and we pride ourselves in our quality control. We also wanted to give back and help local charities by donating the sale’s unsold items. We’ve been fortunate enough to work with The Foothill Family Shelter, Warrior for Children and Stephen’s Hope. It feels great to be able to help and Joe and I are so thankful to have made so many awesome new friends through this process. It’s been priceless!
