Take home a free butterfly garden on April 24th!

April 2, 2021

This Earth Day, the Waterwise Community Center celebrates by offering a free, three-plant butterfly garden to people who live in the community it serves.

To participate, you must register for and attend one of our upcoming free online gardening workshops. You will register when you select your time slot for plant pickup. Full workshop descriptions can be found here.

Space is limited, so sign up today in just a few easy steps to ensure your place!

You’ll receive three, easy-to-grow, low-water-using, California native plants known for drawing butterflies to the yard. De La Mina Verbena provides months of scented purple flowers. Red Buckwheat’s fluffy rose-pink flowers will add color to your garden spring through fall, and Margarita BOP Penstemon brings snapdragon-like beauty to the garden for months. We’ll also give you lots of tips on how to plant and care for these three beauties before you take them home.

Butterfly gardens will be available for pick-up on Saturday, April 24 during your registered time slot. Pick-up will be at the Waterwise Community Center in Montclair, California.

This program is only available to participants who live in our service area cities: Chino, Chino Hills, Montclair, Ontario, Upland, and Rancho Cucamonga. You must live in one of these cities to participate in this giveaway. Registration is limited to one person per household.

Note: All participants will be signed up for “The Drop,” our monthly email newsletter. Don’t worry. We’ll never share your information, and you’ll only hear from us once a month with news about gardening workshops, plant care, and WCC events. You can unsubscribe anytime.

Contactless Pick-Up Procedure:

You will receive an email confirming the ticket for your time slot to pick up your plants at the Waterwise Community Center on Saturday, April 24th. We will use a contactless procedure for plant pick-up to protect participants and our staff. Please remain in your vehicle.

Participants will pull into the Waterwise Community Center parking lot or line up outside the lot along San Bernardino Street. Please approach our lot by driving down San Bernardino Street from the east, so you can make a right turn into the lot. When you are at the front of the line, please open your trunk or unlock it so our staff can open it.

Please have room in your trunk for us to place a group of three one-gallon size plants into it. The plants will be tied together to prevent them from tipping over. We will put the plants in your trunk or truck bed and close your trunk. After that, please pull around the lot and exit. We always have plenty of street parking along San Bernardino Blvd. where you can pull over and better secure your plants if you would like. We recommend this!

We expect a large number of people, so please arrive during your pick-up time slot. This will help reduce delays for everybody! The event will take place in our parking lot at the Waterwise Community Center located at 4594 San Bernardino Street, Montclair, CA 91763.
