What's in your Christmas Eve Box?

By Beth Neely, publisher of Macaroni Kid Rancho Cucamonga December 18, 2022

Do you have a Christmas Eve Box?

I didn't until I saw one at the store and grabbed it and created our own Christmas Eve box for my kids to do throughout the day! You can use any container and change up the activities to fit what's best for your family.

Here's what I will be putting in our box this year:

  • New pajamas for everyone - including the parents! Not sure I will get us all matching pajamas, or even Christmas themed but they will be new and cozy ones! If your kids already have new pajamas, maybe get them a special shirt or outfit to wear on Christmas Eve!
  • Reindeer Food ingredients for us to make together! oatmeal + cinnamon + sprinkles + glitter. Craft + before bed activity!
  • Art for Kids Hub drawing set! Blank drawing pad, a black sharpie & colored pencils! Click here to read all about it.
  • Wooden spoon with "task card"- The actual ingredients will be stored in the kitchen but the kids will be baking cookies & brownies!
  • A Special Christmas Story Book
  • Hot Cocoa bombs with mugs - you can also pack up some hot chocolate mix in a bag or jar with mini marshmallows on top. Simple and just as fun!
  • Emoji Pictionary game - download this game for FREE here from mypartygames.com!
  • Letters to Santa to leave at the end of the day with his milk and cookies. I created this Christmas Eve note for my kids to leave before they go to bed.
  • A note saying where we are heading for Christmas Eve dinner! You can also plan to make a special dinner together at home where everyone pitches in OR order in takeout from your family's favorite local restaurant!
  • Holiday Lights Scavenger Hunt! I am really excited about this one because it will get us out of the house and driving around Rancho Cucamonga to see how the family's in our community have decorated their house this year! You can do Thoroughbred lights, but for us, we will be driving around our community to find the hidden items. Download my Christmas Light Scavenger Hunt printable here!

I hope this has given you some ideas and inspiration to create your own Christmas Eve Box this year.
