By Beth Neely, Publisher Macaroni KID Rancho Cucamonga July 2, 2023
Homemade Patriotic Popsicles are a fun and easy way to celebrate the summer holidays with your kids. And they are not only fun to make, but they are also fun to eat!

The best part about making these red, white, and blue treats is you can use any ingredients you'd like! Keeping with the patriotic color scheme choose from these ingredients:

RED: Cranberry juice, red sports drink, crushed/blended strawberries, cherries,or watermelon
WHITE: Lemonade, coconut milk or yogurt

BLUE: Blue sports drink, crushed/blended blueberries

Optional: Use food coloring for the red and blue to make the colors pop more!

You can use any popsicle mold or use small dixie cups for this recipe but no matter what you choose use wooden sticks so you can layer the colors easily and freeze the stick in place.

  • Start with your RED and fill each cup one-third full. Place in the freezer for about one hour.
  • Remove from the freezer and put the wooden sticks in place.  Fill another third of the cup with your WHITE using foil, cut small slits over the top of the molds to keep the stick in place if needed.
  • Refreeze for another hour and then fill the rest of the cup with your BLUE. Return the cups to the freezer one last time, until they are completely frozen.
  • Once frozen, if using the paper cups peel away from your ice pops and enjoy!
Refreshing, cool, and sweet, these Patriotic Ice Pops are sure to be a hit at your summer celebrations … or any day!
